Directions
The Main Entrance to Cardinal Spellman High School is on Cardinal Spellman Place (also called Needham Avenue) one half-block from the intersection of Needham Avenue and Baychester Avenue. Use the Main Entrance for direct access to our Academic Offices and the Classroom Wing of our building.The Entrance through our Bronze Doors is on Baychester Avenue. Use the Bronze Doors for direct access to the Auditorium, the Gym, the Little Theater, the Band Room, the Cafeteria, the Fitness Center, and the Athletic facilities. (All of these are on the second floor.)
Our convenient location is also easily accessible by public transportation from lower Westchester, the Bronx and Manhattan; a few students travel from Queens via the Q44 Bus.
Coming by Automobile:
New England Thruway (I-95) Northbound to Baychester Ave. Exit 12 is on the LEFT; continue on Baychester Ave. to CSHS (the 5th light).
New England Thruway (I-95) Southbound to the Conner Street exit, turn right on Conner Street to Boston Road, turn left on Boston Road to Baychester Avenue, turn right on Baychester Avenue, one block to CSHS.
Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) Northbound to E 233rd Street [do NOT exit at W 230th Street, but continue on to the third exit after W 230th, which is E 233rd.] The exit leads onto E 233rd Street; continue eastbound across E 233rd for several miles to Baychester Avenue; make a right southbound onto Baychester Avenue, and continue two blocks to CSHS.
Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) Southbound to E 233rd Street; turn left (east) onto E 233rd Street, and continue eastbound across E 233rd for several miles to Baychester Avenue; make a right southbound onto Baychester Avenue, and continue two blocks to CSHS.
Bronx River Parkway Northbound to E 233rd Street exit, then turn right (South) to E 233rd, then left (East) onto E 233rd, continue to Baychester Avenue, then turn right (south) onto Baychester Avenue for two blocks to CSHS.
Bronx River Parkway Southbound to the exit marked Bronx River Road -Yonkers. [Please note that this is NOT the exit marked Bronx River Road -Mt. Vernon.] Make a sharp right (almost a "u-turn") onto E 241st Street, continue straight over the bridge; at White Plains Road, E 241st St becomes Baychester Avenue, continue south on Baychester to CSHS. You may also come south to the E 233rd Street exit, and across E 233rd St (east) to Baychester Avenue, then right (south) two blocks to CSHS.
Whitestone Bridge or Throggs Neck Bridge - follow signs to and enter the New England Thruway (I-95) North, continue north to the left lane exit onto Baychester Avenue (Exit 12); continue to CSHS (the 4th light).
Hutchinson River Parkway to Boston Road- exit onto Boston Road (southbound); continue to Baychester Avenue, turn right (north) for one block to CSHS.
Coming by Subway:
From the East Side: (either the IRT # 4, or the IRT # 5 is OK)
IRT Train #5 [Lexington Ave./Dyre Ave. Line] to the Baychester Avenue Station. Exit at Baychester Avenue Station. (At certain times, the #5 Train operates as a shuttle between the Dyre Ave Station and the East 180th St Station; it always stops at Baychester Ave.)

IRT Train # 4 [Jerome Ave. Line] to East 149th Street; then change to the IRT Train #5 [Dyre Avenue Train]. [If the #5 Train is only running as a shuttle, take the #2 Train at 149th Street to E 180th St and then change to the #5 Shuttle.] Exit at Baychester Ave Station.
From the West Side:
IRT Train #2 [White Plains Road Line] to East 180th Street; Change to the IRT Train #5 [Dyre Avenue Train]. Exit at the Baychester Ave Station. (At certain times, the #5 Train operates as a shuttle between the Dyre Ave Station and the East 180th St Station; it always stops at Baychester Ave.)

Special Free Metrocard
Many Spellman Students are entitled to use the NYC Metrocard which provides up to three free trips (to get to school, after-school job, and to return home) on each day school is in session. Both NYC Subways and Buses accept this student card. More detailed information is available from the CSHS Transportation Coordinator (1-718-881-8000 )
